Holy Moly! Look what you pay in state and local taxes

Andrew MalcolmPosted at 8:41 am on March 29, 2018

Good thing Washington gave us a break this year on federal income taxes.

Because the total tax-haul numbers for state and local governments are out for last year — and they’ll take your breath away — also your savings and hopes.

According to the Census Bureau, last year alone state and local governments collected a record $573 billion just in property taxes. That’s about $1,759 for each one of the estimated 326 million Americans.

If you want a real eye-opener, figure out what you pay for ALL your taxes. Not just federal and state income taxes, but all those additional taxes you get on a daily basis. Sales tax, gas tax, taxes on utilities, FCC charges on your phone and cable bills, downline product costs due to tariffs and other fees, hell, even the federal interest rate on loans is a tax (for lack of a better term). It is well in excess of 50c on the dollar.

Here are the 97 taxes people pay each year (not counting all the extra little fees, downline taxes and expenses from tariffs, etc).

I watched a YouTube channel video by Stefan Molyneux, titled "The Fall of Chicago"

Start at the beginning

! No longer available

He used charts and statistics, to show basically a "going out of business scenario"

We also pay all the taxes of the businesses that produce the things we buy. All of them.

Yep.

There is not a thing you do, outside breathing, that isn't taxed or regulated in some way.

We are at the point, it is actually more difficult to start a small business in the US than in Communist China.

If the average small farmer in Communist China wanted to start a roadside stand, they generally have to get a local approval (if any at all) and set up.

In the US, that farmer would need to complete miles of paperwork, undergo inspections and permits, get various local and regulatory approval, and have all that renewed on a regular basis.

Let that sink in for a moment.

I was investing in a coffee shop in our town about a year ago, and it took well over a month to get all the permits to open after everything was set up and ready to roll.
