I wish I knew.

Well...for one, they need to stop the B.S. partisan politics and start doing what is best for country!! Unfortunately, there are only a handful of Congressmen that are worth a darn!

I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Trouble is the socialists (ah, liberals) think they are doing what's best for the country.

The ones I cannot explain are the republicans who go along with them.   **nononono*

The main reason I went to local tea party rallies was the out of control spending.
Seems only a handful of Republicans care about it now.

Because they aren't Republicans, definitely not conservatives and they are all part of the same country club and will say and do whatever they need to, to get elected and go right back to doing whatever lines their pockets....just my opinion of course.

Democrats pushed for, and won, limitations on hiring new ICE interior enforcement agents and on the number of undocumented immigrants the agency can detain.

Under provisions written into the bill, ICE can have no more than 40,354 immigrants in detention by the time the fiscal year ends in September.

@mrclose I would say that's a good thing, if it means they speed up the court hearings and deportation process.  No?

Micah 6:8  "...what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?"

No.

Nice theory, but in practice it just means judges will block deportations to clog up the system.

Also, 40K is what, 10%?  15%?

Shall we also limit the number (percent) of drunk drivers, serial rapist Presidents, and public urinators that can be detained at one time?
My avatar shows the national debt in stacks of $100 bills.  If you look very closely under the crane you can see the Statue of Liberty.

And, what would be the purpose of that kind of clause except to slow the deportation process?

ICE can take most of the year off, with 40K being the target.

The system already is clogged. It is one of the biggest problems in this mess- more government created problems. There is an 11 year backlog in the immigration courts and there are only (as of 2009, I can't find current numbers) 229 Federal Immigration judges. Divide that by the 12-20 million (depending on who is reporting) illegals and you get the idea.
