Fossils on the rise as deluge soaks western Queensland

While graziers are celebrating the rising green grass following record-breaking falls in parts of western Queensland, palaeontologists are also excited — by the potential of rising fossils.

Curator and palaeontologist Michelle Johnston, of the marine fossil museum Kronosaurus Korner in Richmond, said the heavy falls in Richmond, north west Queensland, would likely enable new and existing fossils to be unearthed in the region.
