If Donald Trump is worried about Democrats using an upset victory in Pennsylvania as a blueprint for winning big in the midterms, he didn’t let on.

Trump broke his silence on the election at a private fundraiser for Missouri Senate candidate Josh Hawley Wednesday night, telling a crowd of donors that Lamb had run “a pretty smart race, actually,” according to an audio recording of the remarks obtained by The Atlantic. Democrat Conor Lamb defeated Republican Rick Saccone in a district Trump won by nearly 20 points in 2016.

“The young man last night that ran, he said, ‘Oh, I’m like Trump. Second Amendment, everything. I love the tax cuts, everything.’ He ran on that basis,” Trump said, according to audio of the event shared with The Atlantic. “He ran on a campaign that said very nice things about me. I said, ‘Is he a Republican? He sounds like a Republican to me.’”

Weird, because Lamb supports a woman’s right to choose, strengthening Obamacare, and forgiveness of college debt.  He also referred to the middle-class tax cuts as ‘crumbs,’ a la Pelosi.

This is actually true.  Look for more democrats to tie themselves to the President ... pro-gun, pro-tax cuts, pro-military, pro-working Americans.  "Lamb the Sham" is his nickname because he ran as a Trumpster and will govern with Pelosi.

But Trump's the problem.

And when the reports of Democrat voter fraud come out ...  angst will explode for a moment.  But if the President tries again to expose and fix this, conservatives will again agree with Democrats that the effort is too "intrusive".

Because Trump's the problem.

You mean like the voter fraud Moore said was rampant last year and Trump publicly said to concede, drop it, and move on?

@Suppressed

He is a crazy freak show who loves only himself and proves it every day.
I just now saw his latest approval rating -  22% now.

Umm...YES!  If the guy's nickname is Lamb the Sham and he's going to vote with Pelosi and Trump is out there telling us all that the guy is just like him, then YES, Trump is a problem.

That was not his campaign rhetoric. Lamb was to the right of Suckone and sounded like a Trumper to me on the stump.

I was able to find the first three items by searching his name and going straight to his ‘priorities’ listed on his campaign site.

He can't govern with Pelosi or he will lose his job before the paint dries in his office. He is up for reelection in 6 months. I also see that because all the Rat wins in special elections were because the Rat moved to the right of the GOPer, they will unload Pelosi in short order to keep the gains going.

I can't speak for the republicans who sat out the election in PA, but Trump is a problem for me.

I look at the vote as a warning.  The election didn't mean anything because the seat is being redistricted so the only purpose in fighting so hard to win it, is to spit at Trump.

Remember the Broken Glass Republicans?  I think the rats can't wait to vote next year.  I dread it.

A pro-gun, pro-tax cut, pro-military, pro-working American rat without the baggage of Trump is growing more palatable with every Trump misstep, insult, tweet, and betrayal.

If the rats gain the centrist purple states, then eventually the moderate rats will replace Pelosi with moderate leadership.  Then then congressional republicans can wander in the desert for 40 years like they did before 1994.

Let me try again @RoosGirl   ... the sham part is that Lamb presented himself as a supporter of the President's policies ... when he is not.  He will vote with Pelosi.  Lamb POSED as a supporter of the President.

Saying the president is the problem was sarcasm ... my apologies for not pointing that out.  I thought it was self-evident.

So, no, dear, the President is not the problem --- although 95% here will twist this for days in an effort to make it so.

Enjoy.

It wasn't what he was saying on the stump and that is what people saw. Not some garbage website. Who wastes time reading website in a local election? They either see the stump speech on the 5PM local news or read it in the paper.

BTW if these issues are so important to you, why didn't Suckone do something about it in his previous gigs? You are aware that the GOP runs the House and Senate in this state? I can tell you for a fact they haven't done shit for anything close to a GOP agenda. They are all RINO's except for a couple midstaters and some upper "T" guys.

How did he sound like Trump?

Was he insulting the disabled, women, and colored people?  Paying off porn stars?  Did he promise a Mexican financed wall?

or did he want to raise the age for guns, protect the unions, invite the Clinton's to his wedding, and bust the federal budget?

I bet Lamb the Sham found it easy to run to right of "conservatives."

Thanks for proving you are a stupid know nothing azzhole again. Suckone was at least 5 behind in this race before Trump got involved. He had no ground game and held 2 public events the weekend before the election. Trump getting involved got this thing under a .5% race in about a week with a candidate that couldn't get out of his own way. That is amazing.

Speaking of shams, wait until Trump starts finding a lot of common ground his 2016 voters don’t like if the House flips.  After all, he did say, "In many cases, I probably identify more as Democrat.”

Do you even know who the eff Suckone is or do you just blow shit out your ass and hope the other knuckle dragging Trump haters here seal clap you? I used to work in state politics here. I know who this guy is. He couldn't win a rigged lottery with one ticket sold.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were the only one in the world who knew that Lamb will vote with Pelosi.  You should have callled Trump to let him know to he wouldn't say something stupid again like he did this time.

And you can bleep off with that condescending "dear" bullshit.

So, Frank....serious question:  Why did they decide on Succone?  What ties to the area or background did he have to make him anywhere near viable?
