This whole damn race is utterly meaningless as they will have to run again in a few months. I just don't want to hear the media and the Democrats gloat about it for that time.

Even worse will be Trump gloating if Saccone wins.

If there is a recount, equal number of Rep and Dems do the recount.

And a democrat judiciary  decides any conflict.

Yes, democrats would find that distasteful.

I'm going to stay up and watch this; I think it's important since both parties have really tried to win it.  If the money numbers I saw earlier are true, .5 million for Dem spent and 5.5 million for Rep spent, and Trump won by 20 points in election, it means something, a trend, if Rep doesn't win.  Rep should win.

RNC spent 11mil on this race..I think Romy needs to go...

Are you sure this seat is up again in Nov...this district disappears after this election as it was redesigned...

The Libertarian candidate is making his move.  903 votes.  LOL
That could be the margin of victory.

The race will have national implications, even if court-ordered redistricting means the seat won’t exist by the time the winner runs for re-election in November.

CNN says absentee ballots will decide it.  Happens like this in Penn. as it was explained by guy who brought in the absentee ballots: stack them up and feed them into the machine.  What takes time is getting them out of the envelopes and stacking them up.
It showed the people taking out the ballots from the envelopes.

Texas doesn't do it that way.  Absentee ballots are checked before election day for accuracy of paperwork, inaccurate ones are taken out, not counted.  When all paperwork is done, ballot envelopes are opened and stacked.  They are counted in the central counting station along with early votes at beginning of election day.  As soon as voting is finished on election day, those totals are the first ones announced and first totals sent to Secretary of State.  I wrote the election law that determines who is in the central counting station in every county to count ballots.

To bad there was not a Green party.. maybe the RNC will wake up and fund such.

@mystery-ak

Yes, heard them talking about this earlier.  The winner keeps the seat only until November when the district lines change.

I saw money numbers earlier and it was Reps spent 5.5 million on this race and you are saying 11 million; both numbers are ridiculous but 11 million is outrageous - they really want this race to backup Trump.  I also saw .5 million Dems spent.

Should of spent 10 million funding a Green candidate.  Would have been far more effective.

Yes, just announced by guy on CNN.  Washington County will count their absentee ballots tomorrow - 1,000+ ballots.  Guy says they don't have enough workers to do their absentees until tomorrow.  Allegheny County counts theirs tonight, 3,000+.

IIRC, a local station feed I watched earlier said that Allegheny county is the blue area.

This is a special election to fill a vacancy. As soon as the official vote tally is in the books tomorrow, this campaign starts all over again for the November election. This whole thing is a waste of time and money.

   Percent   Candidate   Party   Votes   Winner
49.9%   Conor Lamb   Dem   111,875

49.5%   Rick Saccone   GOP   111,028

0.6%   Drew Miller   Lib   1,351

591/593 precincts

The vote total jumped quite a bit. That must account for those Allegany absentee votes.

Looks like this fat slob Suckone should have got off his lazy ass and campaigned a little with how close the margin is. The last couple weeks he barely made any public appearances.

This loser typifies the type of self important incompetent GOP'er that populates the state. I'm damn glad he lost to remind the state party that they are worthless slugs who need to rethink who they stick on a ballot.
