‘Survivor Of Sexual Assault’ Says She Was Fired For Having A Concealed Carry Permit

Posted By Ryan Pickrell On 11:46 AM 03/10/2018 In | No Comments

A woman identifying as a Virginia social worker took to social media Friday evening to vent about being fired from her job for being a concealed carry permit holder.

Storm Durham, a former Department of Virginia Social Services employee who describes herself as a “22 year old blonde who is 5’2 and about 140 pounds who loves everything Disney, pink, and basic,” asserts that she was escorted out of her office by three Roanoke, Va., police officers after she was canned. She was, according to a post on Facebook, not even allowed to use the bathroom due to “serious safety concerns to the building.”

Gotta be more to this story....
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16
I will NOT comply.

It looks like there is. The city is denying that is why she was fired and others on social media who know her and the situation said it was actually because her boyfriend was threatening other employees. (which was probably the actual 'workplace safety' issue cited, not the permit).

(yea, yea... I know, some of y'all don't like Snopes but at least they checked with the city instead of passing memes. If you have something to refute Snope's information, please add to the thread).

Also this: (so even she admitted early on she was told it was for other reasons).

Quote
When she was fired, Durham claims was given multiple reasons. The first was that she failed to close three cases a day during her first-year probationary period, but Durham claims these performance issues were caused by health issues and were excused by doctor’s notes. She also claims she exceeded expectations. Another reason was that she wore loafers to training in violation of dress code, but she claims to have been singled out since others at the meeting were allegedly wearing sweatpants. The Roanoke Times also listed reasons like arrogance, not paying attention to her trainer and attendance issues, all of which Durham deny....

I started to follow this one on Twitter for that last few days, just to see where it went.
Storm swears up and down that she is telling the truth, but there are a lot of doubters.
I dunno, seem a little much, not sure what to believe.
Time will tell, but so far, it's a lot of "she said-he said".

I have serious doubts for her story because it would be a huge legal risk for the city to do this. Albeit, there are always HR people around who act on personal beliefs, but generally, you can't fire someone for a lawful activity outside of the workplace. That would be as dumb as firing someone for grocery shopping on their own time. Add on top of that, she did give a big old list of what she was fired for, she just 'believes' the concealed carry permit was the reason when they said 'workplace safety' (and not her boyfriend threatening employees).

Plus, Roanoake Virgina is a very Republican part of the State. That's more in the rural, country part of the State, not the DC Beltway part.
