Well, he didn't exactly hit the brakes on tariffs after all. Response from the Heritage Foundation via Twitter:

Trump says a 25 percent tariff will be added to steel and a 10 percent tariff will apply to aluminum.

I'm less than thrilled about it and it would have been a lot worse with Canada and Mexico included.  What will be interesting is how other nations involved respond.  He made this announcement with 'heartland' people, but their agriculture neighbors can be affected by counter moves.  Also, the initial market reaction was not favorable.
