Actually, I think they are right. The old Conservatives remember Goldwater, the Reagan commentary in the 50's that was based on Conservative opposition to the new deal and the radical expansion of Federal power.
Conservatism and Conservatives have lost that intellectual foundation and instead of opposition to the expansion of Federal power they expand it as long as it fits the political narrative of the moment... the Conservative goal posts are moved to the left year after year.
The observation that Conservatism as some of us understood it with the election of Reagan will die when we die is spot on in my opinion.
Even 20 years ago the present occupant of the WH would not have had chance of winning let alone be seen as a Conservative. Yet today he is the face of "Conservatism"...
