There is just something "smarmy" about his personality/appearance that I don't like or trust. Plus he is from Texas. NEVER trust anyone from Texas.

I've heard things like that said about Ted Cruz before, maybe because if one doesn't like Ted, there are no negative facts to be said about him except your subjective objection to his appearance.

I've seen Ted in many venues, including Town Halls where he would take really hostile questions and then call the questioner up and have a discussion with him or her.  He always took the trouble to explain clearly and kindly why he had the opinion they disagreed with.  Most of them ended up liking him and probably agreeing with him.

He is a charming guy without the sleazy charm of, say, a Clinton or a Biden.

Or as clear as Bubba gets,which is never very clear. He is a lawyer that gives sleezebag lawyers a bad name. Remember the smile as he was saying "that all depends on whut the meaning of the word "is",is." while under oath at his perjury trial?
