Walmart raises minimum age for buying firearms

(Reuters) - Walmart Inc said on Wednesday that it was raising the minimum age at which customers could buy firearms and ammunition to 21 years.

The U.S. retailer is also removing items from its website resembling assault-style rifles, including non-lethal airsoft guns and toys, it said in a statement.

A massacre at a Florida high school two weeks ago has reopened a fierce debate over gun control in the United States.

I can't believe the cowardly capitulation in reaction to a small minority of Soros backed astroturf agitators.
The Republic is lost.

How does store policy supersede state and federal law?
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

It doesn't.  And people need to push this issue with every retailer that has gone stone-cold-stupid like this.

Idiots. Did none of these companies learn from what happened when K Mart caved to the gun grabbers and Rosie O'Donnell back in the 90's?

In California, years ago Wally's had a problem with some employees not following the law correctly when selling guns, wally's ended up pulling all guns except for children's BB guns from the stores. I don't know if they could get away with that in States where hunting is much more dominant, but with the cowardice so many corporations are exhibiting right now, who knows. They may just decide publicity wise it's cheaper to screw over gun owners and take a short term hit on profits figuring people will get over being pissed and come back.

Dear Walmart/Fred Myers/Dicks,

We'd like to thank you for having no backbone and responding to a tragic occurrence with a knee jerk reaction that will do nothing but anger your former customers.

Sincerely,

Every Local Gun Store in The USA

Those taking the stand that they will no longer shop at a store that wont sell guns to those under 21 better take a look at the rental policy of their favorite gun range.    Most have a similar policy and always have. Most will rent rifles to those 18 to 21, but not handguns. Others have a no rental policy for under 21 for both unless they are in the military.

I don't shop for guns at Wall Mart or Dicks, because here in WA they really only carry bolt action hunting rifles, shotguns, and knives, and there seems to never be anyone behind the counter. As far as what they sale, that is their choice, I go other places anyway.

We need to choose our battles wisely and protecting the availability of ARs and the legal right to buy and own them needs to be out front, along with magazine capacity for rifles and handguns, or before long those stickers I see on my gun cases that say "Not Legal in California" are going to be a much longer label.

A lot of things that are not legal in California seem to be on their streets and movie sets. I always found that amusing.

Just found out that AAFES is joining the knee jerk brigade and will cease to sell hi capacity rifle and pistol magazines. NEX and MCX following suit. #stupidisstrong

Actually, I kind of expected this in the aftermath of the Hassan incident.
