Kinda like equal justice for all, huh?

Equal opportunity?
Of course!
Equal outcome?
Can't happen.

We have just about lost the ability to produce high quality steel. High quality steel is vital
to our defense industry and is used in everything from aircraft carriers to armored vehicles.
Trump is protecting our ability to defend ourselves. Well done President Trump.

You forgot to put sarcasm tags on that last bit.

Subsidizing things that are failing simply promotes decline of quality.  Do you really thing Affirmative Action to remove competition from industries that refuse to improve will drive them to make any improvements, when you've just said, "Don't worry about quality...we're going to use the might of the government to force people to pay more for your products regardless of whether they're competitive!"?

U.S. structural steel industry meets domestic demand:

American steel mills have the capacity to produce 9 million tons of structural steel each year
7.2 million tons of structural steel were used in the U.S. in 2015
Existing American structural steel manufacturers can easily meet all domestic demand

"The nation's largest federation of unions on Thursday praised President Trump's plan to impose steep tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, even as GOP lawmakers in Congress and U.S. trade partners condemned the proposal."

Considering that Mr. Trump's victory in 2016 was won by white votes from the states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan -- all industrial states -- this might not be as bad a political strategy as some folks 'round here claim it might...
