How, by making their goods even more expensive? The Capitalist in me is simply thrilled by that.
You know, this Simple Bricklayer has never been hired by a Chinaman. I would not mind paying $10.00 for a shirt that china used to send here for $4.95. If that means an American has a good paying job, instead of foodstamps and section 8...another way we pay.
Not a thing they make that we cannot. Whereas, many of our exports are agricultural. China and Japan are not going to "manufacture" more food. Maybe we make them pay ...Eh?
As for the socialist countries of western Europe. They need our oil and LNG far more than we need a BMW.
@Fantom You mock the socialist countries, yet you then applaud when our government artificially raises the cost of living on us. I'm glad a Simple Bricklayer makes enough to throw away money on artificially high prices, but if you have that much, you could have been buying expensive American stuff already -- you didn't need Big Government to step in and force you to do so. Heck, you could be passing out cash to those unemployed workers if you truly had cared.
Instead, you want government to step in and do a wealth transfer at the muzzle of a gun, giving money from the American consumer to Big Business and union bosses and those unwilling to switch to sectors with employment.
And what happens when you give handouts to someone or something without any standard required? Do they improve? No...they lay back on these artificial handouts. That's what HURTS America, not helps it.
But go ahead and cheer Affirmative Action for uncompetitive industry. I, for one, am against it.
