"I am deeply honored to have Jeff Sessions endorsement, leader of the conservatives. He has been called the senates indispensable man and the gold standard. There is nobody more respected in Congress and I am proud to consider Jeff Sessions as my adviser , friend, and ally." Trump announced Sessions as attorney general and said "He's a man of integrity, a man of principal, and a man of total resolve"
who we later learn does 'disgraceful' things.

I take it Fox & Friends ran some BS story on Sessions this morning?

There's nothing preventing the President of the United States from having a private conversation with his own Attorney General.   I suspect this is obvious to most.

That it is.
Character still matters.  It always matters.

And every one of their shows since has been repeating it.

This just makes Trump look chaotic and disorganized, attacking his own guy in public. Of course, his idiot defenders here will never admit this.

So, Sessions wants the IG to look it FISA abuses.
This actually could make the case Trump been saying all along, that the FISA courts have been going after him and those around him without cause.
I think Trump may be off the mark here.

If the issue is just "who" it is doing the investigating, I guess that's an issue, but aren't Inspector General's supposed to "Inspect"?

Admittedly, I'm no expert here, nor am I a "Sessions as Attorney General" fan, but what else could/should he do differently?

This looks petty and vindictive to the first GOP Senator to endorse Trump, IMO.  It looks to me like President Trump is carrying a heavy burden, and the pressure is getting to him.

Maybe he is testing the waters because he intends to fire Sessions before the elections and sooner would be better than later.  I doubt Trump can humiliate Sessions to quit at this point.  This has been going on for a year.

Prior to becoming President, Trump found his greatest success in humiliating his employees on a nation stage.  Perhaps he can not help himself. It is his nature.

Real easy to bash the AG when people don't realize that what he's doing by having his Inspector General look into possible FISA Court abuses...is exactly what the IG is supposed to do.  It's part of his job description.

Quote
The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is a statutorily created independent entity whose mission is to detect and deter waste, fraud, abuse, and misconduct in DOJ programs and personnel, and to promote economy and efficiency in those programs. The OIG investigates alleged violations of criminal and civil laws by DOJ employees and also audits and inspects DOJ programs. The Inspector General, who is appointed by the President subject to Senate confirmation, reports to the Attorney General and Congress.

hate to break it to the people that rely on midnight tweets and hysterical sensationalism on a morning show sound stage for their factual information...but AG Sessions actually followed protocol for how the FISA court is supposed to be investigated.

I know there are people here that want Sessions to go all Andrei Vyshinsky...including Trump himself.

But Sessions knows what he's doing.  And he's doing it the right way in this case.

Not that it will matter to the blind followers.

Actually this would be a case for a special prosecutor, hopefully not a democratic activist one like Mueller.

Well.... I'm not exactly a "blind follower" (far from it)..... but even I can recognize what a crappy job Sessions has done thus far.  And the IG is an Obama holdover (which Sessions well knows).

As I said previously.... Trump needs a pitt bull as his AG.   Sessions ain't it.

Sessions pushed back today in a statement:

Quote
“As long as I am the Attorney General, I will continue to discharge my duties with integrity and honor, and this Department will continue to do its work in a fair and impartial manner according to the law and Constitution,” Sessions said in a statement issued Wednesday afternoon.

Not very well @driftdiver I was once adamantly against the Vietnam War in my radical yuts days (68,69) but I grew up pretty quickly and volunteered to serve my Country in that politically led CF and have no regrets. Your point is well taken though as I was asked a few years ago to run for City Council and declined for that reason alone.

PS:  I don't have a twitter or facebook account but have been known to make ridiculous, outlandish statements HERE!!!!!

Just hire Michael Cohen to be your bag man, deny things ever happened, and yell 'Fake News!' every now and then.  No problem.

Never meant to imply you were...I know better.  And there are things I disagree with Sessions about...however in this case he's following the correct protocol.

Trump knows the IG is an Obama holdover as well.  The IG has to be approved by the President for the position.  If he's still there...that's because Trump approved his continuing in the position.

Again...those pesky little facts that get steam rolled over.

Yeah the Special Prosecutor would be recommended (or not) after an investigation by the IG.

Yeah.... and as we all (probably) know.... Trump should have cleaned house and gotten rid of those pesky Obamaites.  But then.... 'should' (have) is right up there with 'if' (only).  Big mistake, Donny.

Donald J. Trump‏ @realDonaldTrump

Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse. Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc. Isn’t the I.G. an Obama guy? Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL!

I couldn’t agree more.  @USAGSessions must be part of the Bush/Romney/McCain Republican Establishment.  He probably supported @realDonaldTrump early in campaign to hide who he really is. Or he could just be a coward.

While everyone is scouring the grassy knoll over Horowitz being an Obama holdover, you might want to recall he was the in charge of the team that recovered the 5 month gap of texts between Strzok and Page.

And refused to hand them over to Congress but instead gave them to the DOJ where they could be
cleaned. Horowitz may be a good guy but I would not bet the farm on that. Where is his report on
Comey and the FBI that was supposed to be out by now. Now we are told maybe late March
early April. Why the delays? Is he helping DOJ/FBI do a coverup? It sure looks like it to me.
