President Trump slammed his attorney general on Wednesday, calling his lack of action “disgraceful” regarding possible abuses in the surveillance system.

“Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse. Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc. Isn’t the I.G. an Obama guy? Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL!” Mr. Trump tweeted.

He'll be needing to spend more time with his family soon enough.

Its now painfully clear Sessions is way out of his depth.

I suspected he was an empty vessel back during the primaries when he endorsed Cruz by mightily complimenting Trump.

Just recently, everyone was breathlessly waiting for the IG report on the FBI that would expose all the corruption within the DOJ.  Now, they are a bad thing?

This is so childish, inferring that your OWN AG's actions or lack there of, are 'disgraceful'.  Trump rewards Loyalty and Sessions had it in spades being the first US Senator to hop on the Trump Train proving to US NT'ers even back then that he was of questionable judgment and a 1 trick pony~Immigration.  As my pappy use to say applies here to Trump '$hit or get off the pot'.  He's your AG, Fire his azz!
Also applies here (to both these Men):

Sessions has always been a party guy.  So when he endorsed Trump it didn't make sense.   I thought Trump making him AG was an attempt to placate the GOP.

Sessions actions as AG have been pathetic and weak.   He has been disgraceful.

Trump did want to fire him in 2017, but certain Senators - you can probably guess some names - said they wouldn't confirm a replacement.  I'm sure the WH doesn't want to create a potential rift as the midterm election year gets going.  Seems like the prez wants to make him quit, instead.

Had to go back and look - Sessions did endorse Trump. All I remember is it was a muddled speech he gave.

Make him quit by publicly shaming him and calling him "disgraceful?"

Seems to me that a good leader can make a person quit without publicly indicting himself (in that he chose an incompetent IG).

But that's not Trump's style is it?  If he quietly solves the problem, no one gives him the attention he craves.   *****rollingeyes*****
Character still matters.  It always matters.

I've been fairly unimpressed with Sessions, so far.  He had to know the Russia issue would continue into the admin after the inauguration.  He'd also know whether he'd recuse himself or not, so he never should have accepted the position.  It would have avoided the Moore/Jones mess and probably the Mueller investigation, as well.

That said, letting the IG investigate the FISA issue isn't the worst idea.  Anything he finds can be acted upon.  What's discovered by the IG doesn't look politically directed by the WH.  So it doesn't happen fast enough for Trump.  Too damn bad.  Few things in life conform to your timeline.

Plus the Mueller investigation makes it impossible for the President to talk to his AG in private ..... collusion and all that.

 *****rollingeyes***** is right.

I guess you missed the news that Mueller is looking for any hint of collusion .... and talking to the AG in private is perfect for this charge.

If you don't like what the President is doing @musiclady ... take your complaints to Mueller.

There's absolutely nothing preventing Trump from talking to his Attorney General privately.

I agree.  Considering how Trump is under fire from all sides .... Trump needed a pitt bull as AG.  Sessions is a chihuahua.   Trump should fire his ass and get someone in there with some 'bite'.

What is preventing Trump from meeting privately with Sessions?  You seem to be tying some allegation that Trump can't meet privately with Sessions due to the Russian investigation yet Sessions has recused himself from the Russia Investigation.  Sessions has nothing to do with overseeing Mueller or that investigation so meeting with Sessions certainly wouldn’t be seen as “colluding” on the Russia Investigation unless, of course, Sessions is violating his recusal.

There is no way in hell you don't understand the handcuffs that have been placed on the President.    But if you truly don't understand ... the help you need requires more time than I have to spare.

I'm finished with your questions about this.

That is a crying shame @Right_in_Virginia because I too, needed to be educated as to why you feel Trump can't talk to his AG yet feels the need to ridicule him on twitter just so his base can have some fresh red meat on this Wednesday morning.

There's nothing preventing the President of the United States from having a private conversation with his own Attorney General.   I suspect this is obvious to most.
