A high-tech solution for spotting IEDs

Improvised explosive devices are among the deadliest weapons in modern warfare. More than 3,000 individuals were killed or injured by IEDs in just three months in Afghanistan last year, according to Foreign Policy.
The homemade bombs are created using various commodity wireless electronic components like phones, radios or doorbells. To combat them, the Pentagon has investigated jammers, ultra-wideband radar, ground penetrating radar, aerostat-
mounted sensors, LiDAR and of course, trained dogs.
