House Intel Dems release countermemo
By Avery Anapol - 02/24/18 04:15 PM EST

House Intelligence Committee Democrats have released their memo countering the GOP document that alleged surveillance abuses in the Justice Department and FBI.

President Trump blocked the release of the Democrats' memo earlier this month, after the committee voted unanimously to release it. Many lawmakers from both parties argued that the American people deserved the right to view the rebuttal, since the GOP memo had been released just weeks before.

The GOP memo, assembled by Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) and his staff, accuses FBI and Justice Department officials of abusing a surveillance program to unfairly spy on the Trump campaign. Trump claimed that the information in the GOP memo "totally vindicates" him in the investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to win the election.

Perfect timing for a release.  It has been a nothing news week.  This "Counter Memo will rocket to the prize position "Above the fold" in every paper in the USA.

They basically say, "did not" a lot without providing substantiating evidence.

Just saying, "Nope, never happened," doesn't make it so. At least the Republican memo points to actual documented evidence regarding their points.
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

Unless I missed it or it's in a redacted portion, I didn't see anything that disputed the assertion McCabe testified to the committee there would be no warrant without the dossier.  That was an important point of the Nunes memo.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

READ: Devin Nunes shares 'point by point' refutation of Democratic memo

by Daniel Chaitin | Feb 24, 2018, 5:44 PM

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., shared a "point by point refutation" to the memo from the Democrats in his committee designed to rebut the Republicans' memo on alleged government surveillance abuses.

Democrats say their memo, released Saturday afternoon, was written to counter and to provide greater context to the Republican report that was released earlier this month, which outlines abuses by the FBI and the Justice Department in regards to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant application process to spy on ex-Trump foreign policy adviser Carter Page.

“The American people now clearly understand that the FBI used political dirt paid for by the Democratic Party to spy on an American citizen from the Republican Party," Nunes said in a statement. "Furthermore, the FISA court was misled about Mr. Page’s past interactions with the FBI in which he helped build a case against Russian operatives in America who were brought to justice. It defies belief that the Department of Justice and FBI failed to provide information to a secret court that they had provided to an open federal court regarding their past interactions with Mr. Page."

Adam Schiff @RepAdamSchiff

Some time ago, Republicans on our committee released a declassified memo that omitted and distorted key facts in order to mislead the public and impugn the integrity of the FBI.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

“Congressman Schiff omitted and distorted key facts” @FoxNews  So, what else is new. He is a total phony!

Brian Stelter @brianstelter

Holy moly. The @FoxNews anchor said "Congressman Schiff, he ARGUES the REPUBLICAN memo omitted and distorted key facts." Trump just deleted 5 words from the quote to allege the opposite meaning.
