President Trump opened the door Thursday morning to a national gun registry via his proposed “comprehensive background checks.”
He called for such checks via Twitter:.....

What he said is a bit vague.  Until he actually says he's behind the universal legislation backed by Dems, it would seem Breitbart is getting a little to far over their skis.

Won't surprise me if he does.

What did they expect when voting for a guy that in 2000 said he wanted to ban "assault" weapons... Nobody really knows what an assault weapon is, but is sounds scary enough that something must be done...

Needless to say, but I will not be complying with any such 'registry' or mandate to 'register'.

Period.

They should already know what 'we' have via the 4473 form.

Knowing how terrible they are with paperwork errors, I'm probably on some special watch list.  I've made purchases over the years and traded many in along the way to get the next one.  According to them, I probably live in an armory.

The IRS scandal under Lois Lerner if anything, revealed the culture of 'lists' the Alphabets have on Americans they consider to be enemies of the state.

Fake News/Real News/Opening Offer/Gambit, doesn't matter.

Try it. You will run out of prison cells to house former law abiding Citizens.

You will precipitate that which the 2nd was instituted expressly to AVOID.

The idea was to have guns in so many, law abiding hands that the very thought of trying to outlaw them would make political masters blood run cold.

Wouldn't be the 1st time Citizens have marched on Congress.

@INVAR

The form you fill out when you buy a weapon, is not sent to the govn.  It stays with the store.

Yesterday, Trump said he is looking seriously at bringing back mental institutions to house  mentally sick people.  Perhaps he will decide who gets put in there behind locked doors.

If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.

See how government works?

If you think the background check database on the individuals and the kind of gun they are purchasing is not kept in a data file in D.C., you must have missed the IRS and FBI scandals of late.

@Victoria33

And yet the BATF is able to track down every weapon used in these mass shootings within a couple days.   If the only record is at the gun store how do they do it?

@Victoria33 when they run a background check the seller has to send in your name and what type of gun you're buying IIRC.

I'm not sure hot it works in every state...but since I'm now a CCDW permit holder in Kentucky...I don't have to do the NICS check anymore...which will be nice.  Since I'm only stationed here and not a resident I was always having to show a copy of my PCS orders to buy a gun.

However...now that I'm a CCDW permit holder if I get pulled over and they run my car tag...it shows I have a permit.  So no matter how it goes...the government knows who has guns and who doesn't.

@txradioguy

What I said is correct in Texas or I would not have posted it.  The govn. does not know what I have or what anyone has in Texas or any other state unless that state, city, has a registration law and the citizen must get it recorded. Will prove it in pm to you. In all states, the form you fill out stays with that seller and never leaves there.  I know that for sure.  Also, when the clerk makes the phone call to that special phone number, for a background check, that is an automated system and no info. about the type(s) of weapon(s) is given.  The fed govn. does not know what you have.  Will explain this in pm to you, not going to argue with uninformed.
