A 16-year-old survivor of Wednesday's school shooting in Florida said that lawmakers’ words and prayers “mean nothing,” and called for “better gun laws.”

Lyliah Skinner made the comments to CNN on Thursday in a phone interview less than 24 hours after at least 17 students and faculty were killed and 14 injured in a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.

“As our legislators and leaders, they shouldn’t be offering prayers and words because those mean nothing,” Skinner said. “We need action, because action’s what’s going to change what’s happening.”

Sadly, this is exactly what the incremental surrender of our rights crowd and gun ban advocates are gleefully stating is going to happen to any of us who refuse and resist their 'reasonable' registration, regulation towards confiscation plans.

Because as you know, it is better for gun owners to be killed en masse via raids by law enforcement than having our innocent kids killed by lone nut jobs that everyone ignored the warning signs about in Socialist indoctrination centers.

Well, as far as action, it would have been nice..and more effective than throwing his body in front of the bullets, and dying. Had that coach been armed.

I have had a moment of clarity.

All these school(mass killers) shooters are male. Setting aside the moslem attackers who have a common islamic source. What drives a madman?

Many , if not most, are on psychotropic drugs. Why? ...Why male?  Feminism, and the refutation of masculinity perhaps. Which may lead us back to the use of mind altering drugs to balance an equation which nature already had balanced.

I don't know what the answer is but the girl has a right to express her feelings no matter how misguided.  I don't agree with her but it is easy to see the emotions that drive the response.

Here in Washington we apparently narrowly avoided the same.  A Grandmother was reading her Grandsons journal or something and saw he was planning a school shooting and turned him in.  People also knew that the Cruz kid was dangerous.

I can't think of any better 'action' than prayers.  To lose a loved one is tragic, heart-breaking and very difficult, however, I can't imagine going through an ordeal like that and dismiss the power of prayer; especially for ending violence in general and healing that our society so desperately needs.  Sad.

Obviously time for me to make another contribution to the NRA as well.

Funny. I couldn't find any mention in that screed about the FBI knowing about this and doing nothing. If we are going to give up our guns so this ultra Lib can feel better, the constabulary is going to have to protect us 100% of the time. So far the FBI et al seem to be not up to the task.

Well said.    The answer is not gun control.  There isn't an answer I am fairly sure.  Evil exists.  But the power of God heals all wounds.
