Now they’re taking aim at American broadcaster Katie Couric after some incorrect assumptions she made about the country when it was introduced during the Opening Ceremony.

As the Netherlands entered the PyeongChang Olympic Stadium during Friday’s parade of nations, Couric shared a theory on why the Dutch are so good on the oval.

Here’s what she said:

“It is probably not a news flash to tell you the Dutch are really, really good at speed skating. All but five of the 110 medals they’ve won have been on the speed skating oval. Now, ‘Why are they so good?’ you may be asking yourselves. Because skating is an important mode of transportation in a city like Amsterdam which sits at sea level. As you all know, it has lots of canals that can freeze in the winters. So, for as long as those canals have existed, the Dutch have skated on them to get from place to place, to race each other, and also to have fun.”

Every event I have ever seen covered by NBC, from the Olympics down to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, has had commentators with shocking lack of awareness or knowledge of the event they're covering.

Do. Your. Flipping. Research.

Heck, I don't have a broadcasting degree or any professional experience and I could cover these events better than these guys.

I really miss Roone Arledge. Those guys knew how to cover the Olympics.

You mean you don't care to hear stories about athletes, crying buckets of tears, doing it for poor old Uncle Fred who had bunion surgery last month?

He might have known how to cover the Olympics or barrel jumping, but he was the clown who decreed that NBA games wouldn't be broadcast until the start of the second quarter. Which I would like to have done to Arledge...draw and quarter him that is.

The last two minutes are the only part of an NBA game that matters, anyway.

Not to mention a man can only handle so much of the incessant shoe squeaking before he wants to shoot the TV full of holes...

Only because it's full of chicken**** intentional fouling. No other sport encourages people to intentionally play dirty, but basketball sure does.

You obviously don't watch basketball.
