The White House is standing behind Israel after a Syrian missile brought down an Israeli F-16.
In a statement, the White House called Israel a "staunch ally" while warning Iran to cease "provocative actions" in the region.
“Israel is a staunch ally of the United States, and we support its right to defend itself from the Iranian-backed Syrian and militia forces in southern Syria,†the White House said in a statement.
"We call on Iran and its allies to cease provocative actions and work toward regional peace."
President's Trump White House has maintained close ties to Israel while directing heavy criticism at Iran, repeatedly accusing the country of violating the terms of the nuclear deal negotiated during the Obama administration.
