...What this does mean is that Republicans can’t even pretend to promise an ObamaCare repeal any longer. Just like they can’t pretend to care about deficits and national debt. At the very least, this has been a clarifying — if depressing — exercise....
So what we will get is the same old routine of "we couldn't get it done because the Rats won't cooperate so vote for us and give us more seats". I'm so tired of being played for a fool. They think passing tax reform is enough. It's not even close.
Of course the Republicans think you are a fool. They think we are idiots and they hold us in contempt and play these stupid games thinking we are going to forget about their bullshit reneged promises next election cycle when their hordes of party hacks intimidate you into believing it's a binary choice and you have to vote for the lesser evil, no matter what.
The GOP never had any intention to repeal Obamacare. This gives them the cover 'we cannot shut down the government' to keep it in perpetuity - exactly as we warned that they would do.
And for all of Trump's promises to do stuff "on day one" - like fools, the populists bought it hook, line and sinker.
We are past the days of the Republican wars and are into the reign of caesars now.
Eventually the bill comes due - and like Rome - we look to go out far more spectacularly and in instant fashion rather than a slow grind of three millennia to oblivion.
With today's technology that time will be compressed into years or months.
