Jeff Flake mulls bill to extend March 5 DACA deadline
by Katelyn Caralle | Feb 8, 2018, 3:28 PM

Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., is preparing a bill that would extend the March 5 deadline for reaching a deal to protect Dreamers, or immigrants who came to the U.S. illegally as children.

President Trump set the deadline as he announced the rescission of the Obama administration's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. While the administration has indicated it would not target DACA participants for immigration enforcement while Congress considers a way to create a new program, some lawmakers are worried that once the deadline passes, these immigrants may be more at risk of facing deportation.

Flake wasn't specific, but in a meeting with reporters, he said he is mulling a way to stretch the deadline, "if it comes to that," according to Politico.

I’m not entirely sure how he has any power over an executive order.  Besides, the original one by Obama has been in place since 2012. If anybody was really concerned, they would’ve done something before now.  Circus clowns, all.

The President's not going to sign a stand alone bill extending DACA.

Flake's essentially resigned.  The governor should accept his two months notice and replace him.

Especially when he said on January 25th he had the right to do it himself.  Of course, other admin officials have since said he would not.  They realize the awkwardness of issuing an executive order to continue a program Trump once called an unconstitutional executive order by Obama.

You sure about that?  I'm not.  Then again, DACA isn't supported by any law, so he could not sign it and extend it by EO again.
