Gym teacher accused of assaulting student who refused to stand for Pledge of Allegiance

Karen Smith was accused of assaulting a student who allegedly refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

A middle school physical education teacher allegedly assaulted a student on Thursday for apparently refusing to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance, police said.

Karen Smith was placed on paid administrative leave from Angevine Middle School in Lafayette, Colo., this week after police were called in to investigate an alleged assault on a male student, Principal Mike Medina said in a statement.

I like her gumption and it sounds like maybe she gave him a smack.  Sounds like this happened very near Boulder, Boulder seems to be a progressive community at that, though I don't know the ins and outs.

I would have told the kid he got what he deserved when he came home crying to me that he’d been smacked for not standing for the National Anthem.
