Republicans head to West Virginia to plot 2018 agenda

House and Senate Republicans will travel to West Virginia on Wednesday morning to hammer out the nitty-gritty details of the 2018 agenda President Trump laid out in Tuesday night's State of the Union address.

Lawmakers will board a train for White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., where they will spend the next three days debating key pillars of the president’s speech: Trump’s call for a $1.5 trillion infrastructure plan, investments in workforce development and job training and how to better sell the GOP tax overhaul to voters.

While immigration surely will be discussed in the hallways and meeting rooms at the historic Greenbrier resort this week, a retreat agenda obtained by The Hill does not include a single mention of the word “immigration.” Trump during his speech addressed in detail the hot-button issue, which bitterly divides the GOP.

NEWS: Per a GOP aide (via a member on the train), the train carrying members of congress to the GOP Retreat just had some kind of accident.

Said most ppl seem to be ok, but there also appear to be some injuries.

An Amtrak train transporting members of Congress and staff to a Republican retreat in West Virginia struck a truck near Charlottesville, Virginia Wednesday morning, according to multiple sources. No serious injuries were reported on the train. The status of the driver of the truck could not be determined, but the person was not believed to be injured either.

I have to admit when I saw a photo on Twitter this morning of buses at the Capitol picking up GOP members of congress, presumably to take them to the train station, I wondered whether anyone would try to intercept or harass them along the way to White Sulphur Springs, WV. This appears to be an accident, but let's don the  just in case.

Fox is reporting fatality of someone in truck cab and another person in truck in critical condition. So far, train passengers only minor injuries. Perhaps concussions, maybe a broken bone.
