Trump divorce lawyer penning 'tell-all' book: report
By Judy Kurtz - 01/26/18 12:10 PM EST

President Trump’s divorce lawyer — who the commander in chief once called his “most important” attorney — is reportedly penning a “tell-all” book.

Jay Goldberg, who worked on the headline-grabbing 1992 divorce battle between Trump and his first wife, Ivana, as well as with a host of other celeb clients, is the author of a new book revealing “all the inside stories behind the trials” of his most famous cases, according to the New York Post.

In addition to repping Trump in his legal battle with his first wife, Goldberg also worked for the real estate mogul during his second divorce in 1999 from wife Marla Maples.

Bono, Willie Nelson, The Rolling Stones, and Sean “Diddy” Combs have also lawyered up with Goldberg in the past.

Attorney Client is pretty much going to eliminate any of the juicy stuff from a book. This dude is limited by what he can say.

Well, this ruins his chance at representing Trump in his eventual third divorce.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

He'll likely lose his license and anything of value he has.   Any book will easily be shut down before it goes on sale

Probably. The list of clients he is mentioning for this book are loaded. Maybe it's a bit of a shakedown.

During the mid-1980s dairy farmers decided there was too much cheap milk at the supermarket. So the government bought and slaughtered 1.6 million cows. How come the government never does anything like this with lawyers?

He’s a trial lawyer who will be discussing trials; there’s more than plenty of juicy stuff buried in all the various court filings, and therefore public record.

Because it gives NTs something to pant rapidly over whilst fantasies of 'final blows' circulate wildly, randomly around the insides of their skulls.

Yeah, not sure what he's going to tell all on.  It can't be about what he represented Trump for.

Hardly.

You don't think so?  He can violate attorney-client privilege legally?

Talk about giving the entire cabal of criminal and civil suit attorneys a "bad name" (re: attorney/client privilege.... which is apparently only a guideline vs. being a rule or a law)....

this guy is going to be on everyone's chopping block if he really 'tells all'.   Except for the idiot left... which, come to think of it, consists of a helluva lot of ""like-minded"" attorneys.   And they will love it as long as it harms Trump.

But Trump could and should sue his proverbial leftist @ss off if he violates said privilege.  It's the ultimate betrayal when your own attorney "outs" you.   And think about all those "nondisclosure agreements" folks are made to sign... that will mean nothing if even attorneys can toss atty/client privilege that easily.  Right?

He can violate attorney-client privilege legally?

A man walks into a bar. He sees a beautiful, well-dressed woman sitting on a bar stool alone. He walks up to her and says, "Hi there, how's it going tonight?"
She turns to him, looks him straight in the eyes and says, "I'll screw anybody any time, any where, any place, it doesn't matter to me."
The guy raises his eyebrows and says, "No kidding? What law firm do you work for?"

Any other questions @Sanguine

It would have to be a ton of money to make this worthwhile.  If he actually writes about things that are confidential inside the attorney client relationship, the only people knocking on his door are going to be carrying baseball bats.  He will destroy his practice and his reputation.

Now I can see how he could write about legal maneuvers and court room drama, but not the actual confidential stuff.

The thing about Trump (which I would never before have viewed as a positive) is he has pretty much lived his life out loud and in the public.  Those divorces were so much in the public eye, I have a hard time imagining any real surprises.  It obviously doesn't bother Trump to have his personal life on display.

It didn't bother him until it did.....otherwise, there never would have been porn star payoffs by attorneys and spiked stories about Playmates by longtime friends.

I agree with @Oceander on this one.  He can point to a lot of stuff in the public record and not violate that privilege.  Show where the bodies are buried and let others do the digging, so to speak.

Attorney-client privilege generally doesn’t extend to matters that are in the public record, or that were discussed with third parties (except in some limited circumstances).
