Our immigration system is so messed up to begin with, that "birthright" decision, imo and in the opinion of many legal scholars is not correct.
And chain migration? How many come in by that means every year? What if it were a million a year by chain migration? That might possibly even this proposed bill if it is making only 1.8 million American citizens. I know some might not want to think about this angle, it is easier to say we should not accept any AND end chain migration.
I think one of these terrorist acts in the US, not sure if anyone was killed, maybe the guy who drove the van into people in NYC, was part of chain migration where they say 30 folks came over with that family? I mean that is outrageous, I"m probably exaggerating "30" but it still serves as an example.
I mean, what's the point of denying 1.8 million dreamers citizenship if we end up giving it in this backdoor manner anyway? Maybe it takes a number of years to make up that 1.8 million, who knows?
@libertybele 's concerns are very valid. I think I will see if I can find anything on this "chain migration".
