The federal judge who presided over the corruption trial of Sen. Bob Menendez last fall threw out the biggest bribery charges against him on Wednesday, saying there was no evidence presented to a jury last year that $660,000 in campaign contributions from co-defendant Salomon Melgen were given as part of a corrupt bargain. But U.S. District Judge William H. Walls left intact charges connected to luxury trips to Paris and the Caribbean. After ruling on a motion to dismiss the entire indictment filed after last fall's trial ended in a deadlocked jury, Walls removed himself from further involvement in the case.
Hard to believe a Liberal Clintoon appointee is running interference for Bob.
