Trump wasn't as committal to an interview with Robert Mueller as reports suggest

President Trump indicated he was willing to speak with special counsel Robert Mueller as part of his investigation into Russia’s 2016 election meddling but reports on Trump’s remarks may be overselling the likelihood of such an interview taking place.
During an impromptu meeting with some reporters at the White House on Thursday, Trump was asked if he was going to be speaking with Mueller.
“I’m looking forward to it, actually,†he replied. He also commented on controversies related to FBI agents who were involved in Mueller’s investigation and reported text message conversations that showed them biased against Trump. He went on to say “I would love to†talk to Mueller and “I’d like to do it as soon as possible.â€
But the president added an important caveat. “You know, again, I have to say, subject to my lawyers and all of that, but I would love to do it.â€
