Chances are he didn't know or even care. He was probably casting a line in the water and trolling for endorsement contracts if he wins gold or silver. People that set new records or win Gold get contracts thrown at them,but silver winners who also happen to be "out" homosexuals,not so much. Now that he has put it out there,he can scream about prejudice if he doesn't get any good spokescritter offers.
