#TrumpShutdown becomes top worldwide trending topic on Twitter
by Daniel Chaitin | Jan 20, 2018, 1:15 AM

A hashtag pinning blame for the partial government shutdown on President Trump became the top worldwide trending topic on Twitter as the clock struck midnight at the end of a long Friday on Capitol Hill.

Since one hour before might #TrumpShutdown, which had become a rallying cry for Democrats opposing the short-term spending measure supported by the Republican leadership and the White House, was number one.

What is this "Release the Memo" comment I am seeing in some comments in other sites? Can someone tag me with a reference?

@bolobaby

Not much!  Just a bunch of criminals occupying the highest offices in the FBI and misusing their positions to mess with an election is all!

When have Democrats ever let Chaos stand in the way of their stealing elections?

It's what Schmukie is trying to hide with the shutdown.

Agreed.   Except that I call him Chunkie.

That is what this "shutdown" was all about:  Chaos.

It is a little dirty commie trick.

The DACA deal was tagged to the Budget.  The DACA bill was not even supposed to have come up until March.

Twitter and Facebook made a hard left turn after the inauguration of President Trump.  Well, Facebook, has always been liberal.  It is a great place to post family photos, but that is about it.

I'll wager the democrats are making a big mistake here - they're going off of polls that indicate people want 'children brought here through no fault of their own' helped, but because of how the democrats have conditioned the public to think about shutdowns in the past voters will not connect current democrat actions with any noble cause. In fact they'll do the  opposite.

And, as Levin noted last night: just try to shut the government down.  Couldn't if we wanted to.

Well that's right. Geraldo said something similar this morning. This is going to hurt DACA, not help it. Because all those people who are going to get furloughed; all those people who are going to lose paychecks and benefits, are going to say TO HELL with DACA!

DACA cost me my job and now you expect me to support it? Are you insane? DACA can kiss my ass!

Nobody has ever accused a Liberal of being smart. They are consistently the Party of unintended consequences after all. But this was a very stupid move.

The reality of all this is, the Democrats really couldn't care less about some stupid DACA. The real goal of all this was to harass Trump, as they always do, on his one year anniversary. DACA is not the real issue. The issue is always to hector and harass Trump in any way they can. Nothing else matters to them in terms of the economy or national security or anything else. They don't care.

It is always about RESIST!

Look at all the "good" folks 'splaining themselves.

I can't wait until the State of the Union Address.  Now that will be very interesting, indeed.

Shutdown showdown: White House says it won’t negotiate with Senate Dems
https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/jan/20/shutdown-showdown-white-house-says-it-wont-negotia/

I don't want him to negotiate with the dems.  Their idea of negotiation is you give me stuff and I give you nothing.

Just last May, in a tweet, Trump thought we needed..... 'a good shutdown in September to fix mess!'

Yeah, Schumer remembers that also.  It's on a placard behind him as he addresses everyone about the 'Trump Shutdown.'

VA Secretary Shulkin says veterans benefits will not be affected. The VA has a preapproved allocation that is already in their purse. Enough to last for two years.

That's good to know.  Schumer has been blathering for ages about the Trump shutdown without once mentioning the issues that were the sticking point.

And he will never mention them because, outside of illegals and a few nuts, nobody cares deeply about DACA and most people don't like illegal immigration.

Chuckie and the Rats are speechifying on the floor now.  I suspect they'll only back down if the polls tell them they are getting the blame for it.  That is in no way certain when the MSM is willing to cover for them (both in their reporting and in their polling), so we have to hope the people in flyover land are smarter than that.

I have no reason to be optimistic on that.

Holding the country hostage to force a DACA bill is what's going on, and I just don't know how the majority of the country is going to see it.  GOP had better do an above-average job of selling their position on this.

Half of federal government workers could be canned and there would be no appreciable change to our lives. Who would miss paper-pushers and report writers who enforce unconstitutional regulations that take away freedoms and who produce nothing for inflated salaries?

You are right.

Some of the agencies are necessary and do good work.  But most are not.  I worked for the Social Security Administration and it was the most austerely run and efficient place I've ever worked.

@bolobaby Did you just wake up from a 24 hour sleep.  This is a thread about government shutdown and there have already been several threads about The Memo.

Why did you come on this thread to ask about The Memo?
