Democrats don’t want Americans to know the truth so they’re spinning the government shutdown like it’s the Republican’s fault. Remember that it takes 60 votes in the Senate to pass the appropriations bill.  The bottom line is that not one Democrat will vote with Republicans so this is on the Democrats all the way…Mick Mulvaney was ready for any spin from Democrats during the press conference at the White House today:

You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.
Rational fear and anger at vicious murderous Islamic terrorists is the same as irrational antisemitism, according to the Leftists.

What some people don't understand, however, is the fact these are Senate rules. They are not Constitutional rules. Those rules can be changed by the majority leader. The nuclear option can be exercised on appropriations measures.

Nuclear option for appropriations bills? It's probably only a matter of time

I understand, but right now we need 60 votes and it is extremely doubtful that McConnell would support a nuclear option.
Against stupidity, the Gods themselves contend in vain.

I will only be impressed if Trump ACTUALLY shuts down the government, but not like Obama.

"The Department of Education is currently closed. Control of your children's education is now back in the very capable hands of the states.

"The Department of the Interior is closed. National parks are public land and will remain open to the people. We ask that you please police yourselves and conduct yourselves appropriately on public lands.

"The EPA is closed. States, you are responsible for utilizing the existing laws to generate compliance wherever businesses operate. Whenever appropriate, state law shoudl be primarily enforced.

"Health and Human Services is now shut down. Any services of or relating to Obamacare are shut down."

Etc.

Etc.

"Oh... Democrats, now that all your programs are closed, we are done negotiating. You will either pass the bill in Congress, or we will continue to operate like this ad infinitum. Have a good day."

How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

Can Mitch make it so republicans can pass legislation with a minority of votes?  Cause the GOP could not muster 50 votes to keep the government running for 4 more weeks.

Half of the problem with getting the support was the fact it's a CR and not an actual budget.  The other half is limiting the spending to previously passed Congressional rules like pay/go.  There are members on both sides that want to end the ridiculous process of going from crisis to crisis every few weeks and pass appropriations for the fiscal year.  They're right.

Very true. Even if 51 votes would pass it, there are so many 'turncoat' Republicans that it would make no difference. At least half a dozen so called Republicans are actually traitors to their declared Party working with the Democrats.

You’re right. Why assume a no vote represents disloyalty to the party? It may simply be a vote against the loopy way congress approaches the weighty issue of good fiscal management.

Go to work, congress. Give America a budget that will meet our obligations and that we could responsibly prosper under.
