Since when can Unions control how the Rank-and-File vote?
If you think that the mob is no longer part of the unions, think again.
A good friend of mine works in a union controlled company. He is a closet conservative -- if anyone found our he was a conservative or voted Republican, he could have an "accident" on the job or his family could be threatened.
And the unions spend big bucks on Democrat candidates. In this state Republicans seldom have the resources to run. For most local offices, the Democrats run unopposed. Republicans don't bother even fielding a candidate.
Only way a Republican might be successful is if he or she is a liberal. Pat Toomey, the current Republican senator, believes in gun control and is soft on other issues too.
