Romney to Utah congressional delegation: “Who’s going to stand up to Trump?”

AllahpunditPosted at 8:41 pm on January 8, 2018

A fun leftover from this Friday profile of Romney’s sureshot Senate campaign in Utah. News broke this afternoon that he was treated successfully for prostate cancer this past year, a personal detail that doubtless would have remained private unless he was about to reenter public life and wanted any information that might give voters pause disclosed early, before his next campaign begins in earnest.

He’s getting in. And he’s going full anti-Trump.

In reference to the title, a better question is who’s going to stand up against the inspiration for Obamacare?

How about

Romney to Utah congressional delegation: “Who’s going to stand up to Trump and against the  Americans who elected him?”

Time for a Moore-like smear campaign? Oops, primary hasn’t happened yet.

Before I dashed off a hate post, I read the article.  The headline is misleading.  I'm not sure what Romney plans to stand up to, but it's not Trump.

And on an earlier thread about Mitt being a Mormon were heard about the 'Sacred Underwear'.

I reiterate: If the people of Utah are stupid enough to elect this dirtbag because he too wears the 'Sacred Underwear' they deserve all the ridicule and scorn they're begging for.

In Vol 2 the weapons come out in a winner take all war on two fronts.

Vol 3 opens with the rigged murder trial of the villain in a Viking Court under Viking law to set the stage for the hero's own murder trial.

The substantive question should be:

Which of Trump's programs and policies do you intend to block?

Stronger military? Tax cuts? Eliminate personal mandate in Obamacare/Romneycare? Reduction of illegal immigration?

Standing up to foreign leaders (instead of bowing)? Putting American interests first?

Well, Romney will win in Utah if he chooses to run for the senate, no matter what, but if Romney plans to run against Trump in 2020, I  don't know that those smears are necessary anyway.  Romney is a wuss, a lightweight, with a proven record of liberal socialist leanings.  Even liberal Republicans didn't like him.  The voters in 2012 surely didn't.  There is nothing different about him now or will be in 2020.  He will lose just on his own with no help from smears and lies.

Exactly.  Wouldn't it be nice to hear someone actually ask these questions,

But while Romney has clandestinely mulled the McCain model,

He sure did a bang up job of following that in the '12 election.

The problem with Mitt Romney is he is Mitt Romney.

The problem with Mitt Romney is he is Mitt Romney.
He is around 70 yrs. old, very wealthy with homes in very nice resort areas.

He has a big family. He belongs to a faith, which places much emphasis on family.

He is in the golden years of life. Why take time away from family, in order to jet between Washington DC, and his other homes (presumably Park City, Utah in this scenario) ? ?
