Haley: US withholding $255M in aid from Pakistan

The United States is withholding $255 million in aid from Pakistan over what the Trump administration describes as a failure to sufficiently fight terrorism, U.S. Ambassador the United Nations Nikki Haley confirmed Tuesday.

“The administration is withholding $255 million in assistance to Pakistan,” Haley said at a press conference. “There are clear reasons for this. Pakistan has played a double game for years. They work with us at time, and they also harbor the terrorists that attack our troops in Afghanistan. That game is not acceptable to this administration.”

The withholding of the aid has been expected, particularly after Trump blasted Pakistan in a Monday tweet.

Its a good start.  Pakistan has been playing both ends of the field when it comes to terrorism for several decades.

United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley held a press conference on Tuesday regarding the Iranian democracy protests. Haley also touched on the North Korean threat and the Trump administration decision to withhold funding to Pakistan.

Nikki Haley also told the press the Trump administration will not give funding to the Palestinians until they sit down at the table for peace negotiations with Israel.

There's no reason to give Pakistan a cent ever again.

I sense the only reason we're giving them money is to keep at least some measure of restrait on their nuclear arms.

But even if we stop that, India (in time) will do what needs to be done...

This hard-line approach at the U.N. is probably my favorite thing that the Trump administration is doing. They need to keep it up.

But...

They do need to be ready. At some point, there will be retaliation. That will be in a bond offering with no buyers, or flooding the market with dollars, or moving certain international exchanges off the dollar and onto other currencies.

The United States can weather all this because we have the infrastructure, food production, and natural energy resources to make the rest of the world jealous. We just have to be prepared to stand firm.
