It was only a smaller part toward the end, but I liked him in Without a Paddle as the purported DB Cooper.

Smokey & the Bandit always takes me back to childhood.  The rural culture still had primetime exposure, though it often appeared in caricature form.  At some point that morphed into derision.

I guess after the way FSU played Monday night, Burt said, "Ok, that's enough!"

So young and talented.

He did a lot of 1950s tv -- Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock,  Perry Mason, also a couple of seasons of Gunsmoke.

I love watching old shows from the 50s-60s because you see a number of famous stars back when they were young, starting out and mostly unknown.

If anyone is interested in a good family movie starring Burt and Russell Crowe...look up Mystery Alaska...great little movie..

Thanks Mystery, but want to point out family does not mean family friendly. You didn't say family friendly but I took it to mean so (my bad).  One sections (fellow gets shot in foot) had about 15 F words in span of 30 seconds. Lots of Hanky Panky going on with other people's wives (one character is portrayed as a womanizer). No nudity so far but sexual acts with bras and no panties.

Burt has a role of the brooding hard butt father that is tough on his son, it is a role that serves him well.

Fun fact: Burt Reynolds was one of three partners in the Tampa Bay Bandits of the USFL. He was also the only one to survive to see the league collapse: Stephen Arky committed suicide in 1985 and John Bassett died of cancer in 1986.

Rest in Peace, Burt Reynolds.  Deliverance was a great film, but I guess my favorites will always be the Smokey and the Bandit films.

Going WAY back, but I liked him as Quint on Gunsmoke.

RIP, Burt.
Character still matters.  It always matters.

Reynolds also played RB at FSU.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

Thanks Burt for all the laughs and this

My mom still has the magazine that this pic ran in originally.  My husband was walking by as I was scrolling by this pic and says "What are you doing looking at dirty pictures?"  I said, "That's not dirt.  It's hair."

Steve Spurrier was the head coach and another former Gator QB, John Reaves was the starting QB.

That was one of the better of his movies that no one seemed to like. He was also in a decent TV police procedural  in 1970 that no one ever talks about. Dan August.

For years Burt claimed to have been born in Waycross, Georgia.

He was actually born in  Lansing, Michigan but I won't hold that against him.

Never heard of him, but I'm not a rap fan.

It is alleged he had substance abuse problems and that he died from an apparent overdose.

May he find peace and may his loved ones be comforted.
