A few birthdays today,

Django Reinhardt, actually a big name in the history of music, guitarist, made it big in the '30s, aas a youth, he hurt 2 of his fingers which attributed to his style and influenced the likes of Jerry Garcia and others:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Django_Reinhardt
Playing guitar:

Stardust:

Dramatization of his life in a movie:

Also, Jimmy Castor, "Troglodyte":

He had a brother or something in the business too, I believe we discussed a bit.

Country Singer Johnny Russell with "Catfish John":

Also known for "Rednecks, White Socks and Blue Ribbon Beer", I believe he penned some well-known song, made famous by another artist and it is probably in his wikipedia biography.

Anita Pointer of the Pointer Sisters, "I'm so excited":

Earl Falconer of UB40, "Red Red Wine":

Thursday, January 25th, 2018 Music Thread

All Music Is Welcomed.

http://www.thisdayinmusic.com/born_today
https://www.onthisday.com/music/birthdays/january/25

In the birthday department, I believe today is a fairly low-key day compared to yesterday:

1915, Ewan McDowell was born, penned the famous song performed by Roberta Flack, "The first time I saw your face" among other songs.

Stig Anderson, manager for Abba and helped pen some of their biggest hits, including "Dancing Queen":

Etta James singing "At Last", she may be the most recognizable name on today's list.

Robert Finch, one of the above sites says he sang for KC and the Sunshine band, the other website says he was the bassist. I figured, KC was the singer. Here they are with "That's the way I like it".

Andy Cox of the Beat and later, the Fine Young Cannibals who performed "She drives me crazy":

And the Beat performing "Can't get use to losing you":

A song highly recognizable per the Andy Williams version decades before:

Other birthdays include members of the Tubes, Split Enz and others.

Maybe we can combine the weekend thread for Sat. and Sunday, I think that might work out well, make it sort of a partying thread.  Thinking about it.  Oops, I posted this thread just a few minutes early of Midnight, EST.
