Dems see tax bill as giving them midterm advantage
By Amie Parnes - 12/23/17 12:01 PM EST

Democrats are confident that they can turn the GOP’s big victory on taxes against Republicans next fall and use President Trump’s signature legislative achievement as a wedge issue to win back the House majority.

Boosted by polls that show the tax bill is unpopular and that they enjoy tail winds headed into next year’s elections, Democrats say this December’s tax win for the GOP will come back to haunt Republicans.

“The ads pretty much write themselves: Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress raided our budget to line their own pockets and the pockets of their big donors while most Americans won't see a dime of relief. Does that sound like government that's working for you?” Democratic strategist Christy Setzer said.

I live here in Massachusetts and the online calculator said I'd save $340 per year with the GOP tax bill. Not too bad.

The overwhelming majority of voters, pay little attention to day to day political feuding.

They will take notice of their paychecks, however.

The type of voter who dislikes the tax cuts, is a partisan government employee, a die-hard socialist, or a benefit taker of some variety.

Trump will likely go to great ends, to make folks aware of their paychecks. And probably new jobs too.

Hopefully the Republican political class will, too.

I figure for me personally it's pretty much a wash, but I think it will be good for the economy as a whole.

Since filing with that plan won’t occur until 2019, most people won’t pay attention to it in the upcoming year.  Withholding during pay periods makes it seem smaller.  However, there will be reports on economic growth in 2017 Q4, plus Q1-3 in 2018, by the time midterms roll around.  That’s what people will really care about.

They're addicted to their cocktail of choice.

My 'Viking Hunter' High Adventure Alternate History Series is FREE, ALL 3 volumes, at most ebook retailers including Ibooks, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and more.

In Vol 2 the weapons come out in a winner take all war on two fronts.

Vol 3 opens with the rigged murder trial of the villain in a Viking Court under Viking law to set the stage for the hero's own murder trial.
