Court denies Trump admin's attempt to halt transgender military enlistment

An appeals court in Virginia has denied an attempt by President Trump’s administration to prevent transgender people from joining the U.S. military.

The Department of Justice filed the appeal last week after a judge ruled that the Trump administration must accept transgender military recruits beginning on Jan. 1.

After the judge’s original decision, the Pentagon said in a statement it would begin processing transgender recruits for military service in the new year while the Justice Department appealed the ruling.

Multiple cases have been filed against the ban since Trump announced it on Twitter on July and made it official in August.
