I listen to Mark Levin fairly often.  On Monday night he was attempting to do just what you describe.

(If you hate Mark Levin and don't view him as an intelligent, experienced, constitutionally literate, conservative voice, then skip the rest of this post!  lol)

Otherwise, on Monday evening (over a couple of segments before and after he played extensive segments of the President's national security speech), he said essentially:

- if you are any kind of conservative...  Reagan conservative, constitutional conservative, whatever flavor of conservative, you should be very pleased with what this President has accomplished in his first year, his first year has to be viewed as a smashing success for conservatives of any stripe.

- When you look at what this man has been accomplishing, what his policies are...  of which I agree with what, 85-90% at this point... this man needs our SUPPORT....  I would like to enourage the people at the Weekly Standard, National Review, WSJ, and these other Never Trump bastions (with some exceptions at each)....  think this through with a Sober Mind....  we NEED this man... you see what he is doing in national security, you see that he is trying to build up national defense, you see that he is trying to secure our nation-state...  you see what he is doing with the judiciary.... you see what he is doing with the economy.....  WAKE THE HELL UP!!!!  WAKE THE HELL UP!!!!

(the above is my recollection, not a verbatim transcript)

there is an audio file in this article that contains parts of Monday evening's show:

I am one of those who did not vote for the president last year but is nevertheless VERY happy with what I have seen from him thus far in his presidency and will surely vote for him next time if he continues to perform as he has and still wants the job.

Like we should have impeached Reagan over Iran Contra.  Thats the ticket!

So much negative, gotta focus on the good.

No, Iran Contra was bullshit.  But I think you got the idea.

Yes I listened to that, also. And it shows a serious political analyst, showing common sense, and maturity.

I dont .  Iran Contra was to circumvent the Boland amendment.  The bad guys were technically right.

Agreed, some may not like his style, but it is hard to argue against his common sense, intellect, and maturity.

Thanks for posting this @libertybele I read this earlier at Brietbart, the comments over there further proved (to me, anyway) just how delusionally paranoid a significant percentage of Trumpers are, still.   Quite funny actually.

In what way did the comments reveal delusional paranoia to you?

More testimonials - the months leading up to Nov '16 I couldn't stand Trump.

Today I'm also very happy with what he's done so far and admit I was wrong about how he'd pan out.

He may completely blow from today on, but to date he and his obnoxious self have been the best thing since Reagan imo.

Why, golly, gee, looks like the hornet's nest is a bit stirred up!   :silly:

I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

I didn't vote for President at all in 2016, for the first time in my adult life. Given the likely alternative, I will also gladly vote for Trump, if he chooses to run again. The Democrats are no longer "democrats", but radical socialists who deny the primacy of the individual, the sanctity of private property, and the right to free expression. They detest the Constitution and abhor liberty. What choice honestly remains for one who reveres both?
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

For me, this is not about Trump per se.   If were wiley Ryan, The Turtle and Daffy Duck passing these tax cuts, would still be happy!

I had to drive 2 hours for a meeting yesterday and happened to catch Rush for the first time since the primaries.  A caller questioned the necessity of Trump's personal attacks and general childishness.  He went off on her and said Trump should continue exactly what he's doing.  I reached over and hit the scan button ...

I could listen to Rush, I guess, even though I can't get him here ... I could do the 24 - 7 thing.  But, Rush posts on my facebook page and I can click and hear his take on a particular subject.

Rush became an enemy of TOS because he was not devoted enough to Trump.  The daily Rush Thread there reeked of vitriol and hate and one didn't dare say anything positive about Rush.  He was definitely a Cruz supporter early that that ticked TOS off big time.

Rush is a pretty ardent Trump supporter now and I think it is partly as an antidote to the MSM.

I've liked Rush for years and I still do.  He is great.

With only a few outliers here at the BR being the exception, most of us who wrote another name in rather than vote for someone we found appalling will grade his accomplishments fairly. At least I make a strong effort to do so. Though I do not like him anymore than I did in Nov 2016, I will say he has checked off many items of his list of promises. More so than I think other Presidents in my life time did in their first year. The Tax reform bill being the largest of them.

So as a delicate of the "Don't call us NeverTrumps" on BR, may I say congratulations to Trump, his administration, and members of Congress who voted for this Tax Reform Bill.

@corbe

Crap, @Emjay did you read them?

It was mainly NT'ers (whatever that is) are in line with the 'Deep State' AND Democrats to topple the Trump Presidency.  I'll give them credit for the fact that Ted Cruz didn't come up until 45 minutes into their initial dialogue.
There's still hope.  There're getting less delusional with each passin day.

First of all, please don't take the moral ground and judge me - obviously you didn't see some humor in posting such an article. I've not been a Trump supporter and felt his behavior during the primaries was despicable...nope didn't vote for him, and I'm not going to rehash the past.  There is no denying that Trump has done some good and there is also no denying that right now he's standing between allowing this country to sink  into a dismal abyss or heading her in the other direction.  Like him or not, he's taken this country in a much more conservative direction then she's been heading for a long time.  If you want to consider giving Trump some recognition doing just that as harming the conservative movement so be it.  What's hurting the conservative movement right now IMHO are those refusing to acknowledge that so far he's made some conservative strides; the second is the division that still exists within the party.  The conservative movement was stalled; I didn't say halted, but stalled, yet Trump is leaning this country more conservative.  For right now, until he proves that he's taking us more to the left then right, I'll stand with him and I am darn grateful that the Wicked Witch of the north, south east and west wasn't seated.  Meanwhile ... Gorsuch, Bammycare dismantling, illegal immigration has been significantly reduced, his Muslim ban wanes, and rumor has it that Congress is going to fund that wall...all the while with a corrupt FBI, DOJ (and probably CIA) trying to take him down. Did I mention fake news and Russian collusion? I'm chuckling to myself ...  Yeppers, #NeverTrump ... your choice.

The Boland Amendment was written to circumvent the Executive prerogatives as defined in the Constitution, but If you are OK with criminalizing foreign policy, then go ahead.  You re a Democrat in that regard.   Welcome comrade.

Trump will never be more than a middlingly competent president, around the level of GWB or thereabouts, but not even to the level of Clinton.

I have never read a more condescending or ridiculous post.

Essentially, the title could have been written as "Never Trumpers admit they were wrong"

I think a more appropriate title would be, "Never Trumpers grudgingly admit Trump has done a few things right but they still hate him."

And, if President Trump, God forbid to die today, he'd go down in history...greater than Lincoln.

His tax cuts and leadership instilling confidence ...see stock market....his selection of Gorsuch for the Court...his destruction of ISIS....his disembowelment of Obamacare...the reaching virtually tripling Obama's "new norm" of 1.50% growth in the GDP.

ALL IN ONE REMARKABLE YEAR!!!
