Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's oldest son was arrested Saturday night after he showed up at his parents' house and started hitting his father in the head, after threatening to "beat his ass" in a fight over a truck, according to an affidavit from police in Wasilla, Alaska that was published by the Los Angeles Times.

According to the affidavit, Sarah Palin called the police, which led to the arrest of her son, Track Palin. Sarah Palin told police her son was “freaking out and was on some type of medication.”

Track Palin, 28, reportedly came to his parents' house after he and his father, Todd Palin, started fighting over a truck that Track Palin wanted to get. Todd Palin told his son not to come because he believed Track had been drinking and was taking pain medication. Despite his father’s protest, Track Palin said he was going to “come anyway to beat his ass,” the father told police, according to the affidavit.

Todd Palin said he retrieved a pistol to protect his family.

This young guy needs some help, in the form of jail/prison time.  Sounds like he is out of control.

If he is taking psych drugs for PTSD and drinking on top of them, he has a "mind-altering" chemical cocktail spurring his misbehavior.

If you can't handle drinking, you should completely abstain, forever lest trouble recur.

Of course at his stage, he probably cannot see it.

One of my closest friends and her husband lived for a time in a trailer park.  They had fallen on hard times and someone had given them the trailer for free.  They were ultimately able to get back on their feet and now have a lovely home.  Good people, so I hesitate to call anyone who lives in a trailer park "trash."  But unfortunately, there  are some who fit the stereotype.

PTSD doesn't make you do that. He was completely unhinged. That is usually addiction. He tried to beat his own father to death. He needs to be locked away long enough for him to sort out life.

Yep. I'm holding a parent beating former military man to the same standards as John Kerry and John McCain. Btw, the service members I'm honored to know don't blame their behavior on PTSD, depression, or anything else. They own the behavior and then get help for their issues, God bless them.

Half my family's strait out of Wayne County, WV, so when I say trailer park I mean the typical stereotype and not those just starting out or those trying to climb their way back up

Why is he on painkillers? Was he injured recently? I don't recall  him being wounded in action.

Track Palin has been a problem in the past. He was arrested for domestic violence (punching and kicking his girlfriend) and brandishing a weapon while intoxicated once before.I think about a year ago. He was also involved in that big family brouhaha at a party a few years back. He has already "had help" through court-ordered alcohol addiction treatment at least once.

Sarah is blaming his problems on the military but this kid had problems going back to his teenage years. There was plenty of talk about his juvenile legal problems and that the family hoped that the military could straighten him out. I can't recall ever hearing that  he had anything traumatic happen there to cause PTSD.

He got his girlfriend pregnant, married and divorced her shortly thereafter and now has another child by another girlfriend. (the one he kicked and punched). He has problems for sure but I doubt they were caused by the military and some serious jail time may do him more good than the mollycoddling he has gotten so far.

I remember when Sarah had her reality show and Track was on a few episodes. He was a surly lazy jerk that didn't want to work and his father had to just about force him to work on the fishing boat. I got a very poor impression of him back then and I was a Palin supporter at the time. Boy did we dodge a bullet there! He doesn't have a PTSD problem. He has a drug/alcohol problem along with just being an immature spoiled brat.

The family is more like an episode of the Jerry Springer show. Bristol is another hot mess.

Remember that in sworn testimony, Sarah Palin said that she went to her friend's place because she felt it was a deadly situation...and carried Track with her into that situation.  So she was either lying about believing it to be so dangerous...or she took her child into harm's way.

I used to be a fan of Mrs. Palin's, but honestly, I think the whole family is troubled.  Maybe they need counseling?  An intervention?  Something.
