Senate Republicans unite around tax bill as Corker flips to 'yes'
by Joseph Lawler | Dec 15, 2017, 3:30 PM

Sen. Bob Corker said Friday afternoon that he would vote for the Republican tax bill, likely sealing the bill's final passage in the upper chamber.

The Tennessee lawmaker had been the only Republican to vote against the bill in the Senate, where it passed with 51 votes.

"After great thought and consideration, I believe that this once-in-a-generation opportunity to make U.S. businesses domestically more productive and internationally more competitive is one we should not miss," Corker said in a statement about the joint House-Senate version of the bill, which was finalized Friday.

This bill has "We've got to do something to protect our phoney-baloney jobs" written all over it.

Well, just the cut in corporate rates from 35-21 makes this bill worth the effort. That is just plain huge for the economy. Add in that it ends the ObamaCare mandate...which is the soul of that unholy legislation. There's other good stuff as well, but that's gravy...the corporate cut and the end of the Mandate are the steak and potatoes.

Yep, that certainly is the best of it. I take it the repatriation of offshore monies is in this as well.

I'm skeptical that will happen, but if it does, then yes, it would be worth it.

Why skeptical?  Last I understood, before conference, this was in both the House and Senate bills. I would expect a onetime repatriation tax of around 10%...probably 12% as they buy off punks like Rubio.

Getting rid of the horrendous individual mandate fine ain't a bad thing either!

The proper rate for the corporate tax rate woul be 0%.

Know?  I as in completely / had time to read the whole thing?  I personally doubt it.

But here's an article which claims to hit the high points:

They aren't ready; Rubio is still on the fence and McCain is still out.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.
