Texas Rep. Blake Farenthold, a Republican, will retire from Congress amid allegations of sexual misconduct and “abusive†behavior from his former congressional staffers.
Farenthold will not seek re-election next year and plans to finish out the remainder of his term, sources confirmed to the Washington Examiner. Newscenter 25 first reported the news.
House Speaker Paul Ryan spoke with Farenthold twice Wednesday, according to a GOP source. The Texas Republican also met with Rep. Steve Stivers, R-Ohio, the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, on Wednesday.
