ICE arrests 4 released after detainers ignored
NEW YORK — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New York deportation officers arrested four individuals in two days, each after being released from local custody with an active immigration detainer.
"The release of criminal aliens back on New York City streets continues to pose an dangerous risk to our communities,†said Thomas Decker, field office director for ERO New York. “ICE remains committed to arresting and removing criminal aliens in the interest of public safety and national security, despite the city’s decision to not honor detainers and jeopardize the safety of its citizens.â€
