I don't think he should declare all of Jerusalem the capital.  I said he should keep it ambiguous (ie, make it an open question).

The Israelis probably do not want to annex the Palestinian side of the city in any event, any more than they want to control the West Bank.  It opens them up to accusations of apartheid, etc.
Who is the he?  Trump is only designating where the embassy is to be located within Israel, not what is Israel's capital.

Country first. (To those of you from Rio Linda, that’s America first.)

That's what Flake wrote when writing a campaign check to support the Democrat Leftist in Alabama.

I guess 'Country first' is the new meme designed to whitewash anything that government wants.  Even when it's Socialist or Big Government.

Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

You can't negotiate peace with an entity that does not want peace.  Especially when that entity views peace as antithetical to their religion and the agenda of their "god".

This is why I am in favor of negotiating peace with them in the same manner we did with Japan in 1945.

That is the only way you'll ever get them to listen.

There will be some turmoil if this comes to past. That one can count on.

Yes, as there will be if it doesn't.

Fellow I heard on TV this morning (FBN) said Israel is the only country in the world that is not allowed to pick their own Capital.  What I wonder is this:  Where in Jerusalem will our Embassy be?  I think we already have the ground staked out.

IIRC they have a Consulate office already in Jerusalem.  Would make sense to at least for now make that the Embassy until a bigger facility could be built or the current one expanded.

Exactly why creating a new country for them makes no sense. We already have peace with Egypt and Jordan. Send the Palestinians to them and end the charade that they are entitled to a sovereign country. They didn't have one before don't give it to them now.

The negotiating should be with Egypt and Jordan. We should be trying to figure out how to help them civilize these people as they assimilate them.

Who Is Crafting Trump’s Language on Jerusalem? You Might Be Surprised

Posted at 12:30 pm on December 6, 2017 by Susan Wright

So who is helping to shape President Trump’s comments on Jerusalem as the capital of Israel?

Well, if he can be believed, and that’s a pretty humongous “if”, it’s Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer.

To be clear, Trump isn’t actually moving the U.S. embassy in Israel (currently located in Tel Aviv) to Jerusalem. He’s just going to talk about it and let people pat him on the back for making the announcement.

None of the previous presidents since 1995, when the Jerusalem Embassy Act was signed (naming Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and stating that the U.S. would move their embassy to Jerusalem) felt the need to make such a show out of it.

Fox had John Bolton and others on this morning, somehow, I will listen to them just as much as Susan Wright.

And per logistics, finding a space for land, installing security makes this at least a 3 or 4 year project, maybe even 6 years.

And Netanyahu and many in Israel are very satisfied with this, he went on TV to address the nation; but let's listen to what Red State says.   :tongue2:

No.  Crust first.  Trump established this long ago.

And Glenn Beck and the Blaze discussing all of this, this morning. I think there is a bit of jealousy about who did this.

The Palestinians had their chance back in 1948 to have their own land and they chose to attack Israel instead.

Anything that has happened to home in the ensuing decades is their own fault.

The dirty secret in the Arab world is that none of the Arab States and Arab League members want the Palestinians in their country.  They are like the mutts of the Arab world.

Arab coalitions fought and lost again two more times in '67 and '73.  Throw in the dust ups  with the PLO, Hezbollah, and Hamas between then and now.  You've got a demonstrated history of losers that never wanted peace.

There has to be a lot of "forgiving" to anything to ever work in that part of the world.  I'm finding it a lot easier to forgive Jordan for their part in 1948 than just about all of the rest of the players (but I don't live there).  Menachem Begin was a terrorist in those days.  The Animalstinians?  Nah.  Can't work up any good thoughts about them and their shooting rockets at schools (from schools) to this very day.  Eff 'em.

And you're correct, the entire rest of the Arab world feels the same way about the Palies.  Eff 'em.

Jordan is the Palestinian home state.

Exactly my point. The residents of the Gaza strip should be incorporated into Egypt.

Jordan is the Palestinian home state.

There are no "Palestinians", they are Arabs, and there are plenty of Arab states for them to choose from.

Jordan's been keeping their Palies locked up in squalid refugee camps since 1948.  I don't know if they can afford to let them loose...

My guess is the Egyptians aren't going to want to take Gaza, and that will screw up the whole deal.
