I think one reason Trump came to power is because of some of those who always looked at the GOP candidate as "he's not good enough for me", "I'm too ideologically pure", somewhere one has to make compromises or at least should.

In the end, I think it is said, Romney won the white vote as much as Reagan, it's just that the country has changed.
