The deadly attack at a mosque in Egypt on Friday focused attention on a common, yet sometimes-controversial Islamic tradition: Sufism.

The mosque in Egypt's Sinai region where more than 300 people were killed by a band of militants is a frequent gathering place for Sufis, the name for those Muslims who follow Sufism.

Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), says Sufism is not a sect of Islam, but rather a tradition within the faith followed mainly by Sunnis and sometimes Shiites.

What does it matter?

It's just muslims killing other muslims.
Something we in The West should not worry about.
Indeed the more of them that kill each other, the better our chances become.
