Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rebuked his deputy foreign minister for making disparaging remarks about American Jews in a television interview.
There were calls from Israeli opposition lawmakers for Tzipi Hotovely to resign after she told Israel’s i24 News that Jews in the US were “people that never send their children to fight for their country”. Mr Netanyahu, who is also Israel’s foreign minister, condemned the “offensive remarks regarding the American Jewish community”.
The comments underscored the political divide between more liberal American Jews and the conservative Israeli government. Jews in the US are generally affiliated with more liberal streams of Judaism than their Israeli counterparts.

It is interesting, many people see this divide, that American Jews often are liberal vs. those in Israel. If one is not Jewish, it almost sounds prejudice to say something like this. Well, this deputy foreign minister was rebuked for saying this.
