I would not normally post an article from the leftist-communist NYT, but...
... for some years now here in this forum, I've been posting about the emergence of "white identity politics" -- that is to say, the spread of something that has already occurred in the Deep South to other parts of the country.
Amazingly, even the NYT now seems to have discovered this.
This is why the "solid [democrat] South" has virtually turned 180 degrees. Whites there realized that they faced a democrat-communist party that was largely dominated by black influence. Hence, they switched to "the other side".
For decades, Southern whites hated the Republican party as their long memories stretched back to the "radical Republicans of Reconstruction". The old ways die hard -- but in time, they die anyway. From the sixties, and increasingly in the decades that followed, the whites realized that the dem-com party not only no longer served their interests, but had come to HATE them. So, they switched -- to what is essentially "the party of the whites".
Southern whites realize that to permit the democrat-communists to win is to submit to what will in many instances essentially be "black-rule". So, they vote against that.
This is not so much "racis'" as it is simple common sense and self-interest.
You, dear reader, may not like this, but you can't deny it.
And behavior like this amongst the NORTHERN whites of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin is what won the election in 2016 for Donald Trump.
As non-Southern whites "continue to turn", they will continue to win elsewhere.
