Science seldom supports it's conclusions anymore. A theory used to be published with its errata. Anymore, the errata is swept under the rug and everything subjected to a knowledge filter in the in the shape of 'current consensus'. Group-think with tenure.
But if just one meaningful piece of errata comes to light, the whole mess would come crashing down.
Note, too, there was a time when anyone could freely gain access to those studies, their conclusions, even the data, and study it for themselves, even if they didn't have a doctorate, and were not associated with any university. Science dared stand in the square before the ordinary man, and simplify his world, if it could. Now it obfuscates the language it is written in (not mere technical jargon, but obfuscation) to deter the rank and file, hides its data, and cowers behind a paywall throwing edicts over the fence.
