PHOENIX - One of Bill Gates' investment firms has spent $80 million to kickstart the development of a brand-new community in the far West Valley.

The large plot of land is about 45 minutes west of downtown Phoenix off I-10 near Tonopah.

The proposed community, made up of close to 25,000 acres of land, is called Belmont. According to Belmont Partners, a real estate investment group based in Arizona, the goal is to turn the land into its own "smart city."

Not super familiar with the area.

However, Tonopah has been known to be an exotic tech testing ground, IIRC.

Then there is John Moore's "Navy map" that depicts such areas under water after huge earth changes.

Interesting insight. More than plausible, imho.

I do think very strange things have gone on at Tonopah.

I don't recall about Native American tribal stuff in that area. Might be worth checking out.

In any case . . . the one responsible for the plague of MicroSlop and vaccine horrors around the world is now let loose on the AZ desert?

However, it should be interesting to see what all that money can produce.

"Planned Communities" are common in AZ, since Sun City.  Recent one is "Anthem," about 35 miles North of Phoenix, has about 30,000 people living there.  "San Tan" is under development in the far East Valley.  Since these are lengthy commutes, they are often retirement communities, with low local property taxes.

This is nothing new under the sun.  Tonapah is a bit out there, but if water is available this could be a successful venture, especially if the plans for I11 are realized.  Electricity would not be a problem, Palo Verde is close by.

This is Tonopah AZ, not Tonopah NV. It is the latter which is the address given for Nellis AFB and exotic doings further south at Area 51. Not the Tonopah AZ that Gates is buying into https://www.mapquest.com/us/az/tonopah-282039978 note:

With a good water supply, the community can do a lot.

His money, good for him. Land in that area is dirt cheap and screams for development. Plus, great spot for solar and wind power.. Plus, its proximity to Phoenix makes it a good investment.
